I recall one of my similar ideas, which used cartridges of paper, thermal ink and fit inside an ExpressCard slot somehow. This implementation is slick, practical and is super well imagined.

I hope everyone owns one of these.

Dug this up from my bookmarks clean-out today… I’m posting mainly for the gem at 1:50.

darcy-angelus:

Do you remember your first love? Your first kiss? Do you remember anything?

An award-winning short film I would recommend to fellow dreamers and romantics. With incredible cinematography, this ten minute dreamlike journey allows us to appreciate memory as a means of holding on to moments most dear to us.

I find it’s this sort of gem that makes YouTube brilliant. I don’t know if it’s the PSA style, or if it’s just a result of some excellent animation and timing, or just the snarky political incorrectness.

One of them asked me a question which was something like ‘How do you see the future of the internet?’. There’s a fascinating video I watched recently which kind of encompasses the future in terms of brands and advertising and how companies use it, and it’s not hard to twist it to what kind of possibilities it offers consumers. Personally, I do think it’s converging to something that’ll be like cruise ship Axiom in WALL·E.

Instead, I misinterpreted the question and talked about infrastructure. Oops.

I said something along the lines of internet capacity not being unlimited, and forseeing big problems with bandwidth and capacity since demand is growing so fast. Hopefully it won’t be brought up once I’m famous, but I think I said “there’s no way to actually support IPv6 in terms of physics”. But yeah, even with way better spectrum use and 4G or whatever, there’ll still be an insane amount of data going through the air.

Fuck going first. I guess this problem really sticks out in my mind because Monty reckoned this would be the problem my generation would have to engineer around.
